What Is Archaeo-Geophysics

Archaeo-Geophysics, Archaeological Geophysics, Archaeological Remote Sensing, or Archaeological Prospection all refer to the same general idea - using geophysical technologies to recover archaeological information. Several different geophysical techniques are used including:

Magnetometers and Gradiometers

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

Electromagnetic Induction (EM)

Resistivity

Archaeogeophysical surveys can be done as large scale reconnaissance projects to quickly asses the archaeological potential of areas or as detailed surveys of known archaeological sites to help supplement information from archaeological excavations.
